Are you thinking about installing solar panels at your home?
Call Southwest Electric first for safety and installation requirements before investing in solar generation at your home. Our professionals can guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have about installing solar panels for personal home use. Solar power generation is quickly becoming the most popular form of clean, renewable energy and Southwest Electric is your trusted source for power and information.
When solar electric generation is connected to your home’s metered wiring, it is actually interconnected to the national power grid. Any solar installation not approved by Southwest Electric can be a serious safety hazard for the owner and any Southwest Electric lineworker. The Interconnection agreements and application for power generating equipment are required by law before any solar site can be activated. A copy of the process document can be found here.
Remember! Make sure to call Southwest Electric before any solar generation system is activated to have Southwest Electric inspect and approve the installation.
Do you do net-metering? No
What is net-metering? Basically, it’s where any excess kwh generated onto the grid is directly credited to offset your utility bill. Cooperative Energy buys the excess power generated and pays the member directly at a wholesale price of 4.5 cents per kwh.
Do you limit the size of the solar system installed? Yes, currently we limit the residential size to 15kw.
Does Southwest Electric install solar panels for Members? No. We work together with reputable installers that have built relationships with us and our members to make sure your system is installed correctly and safe.
Residential solar is designed to help offset your kwh and demand usage from your Cooperative, but not totally eliminate your monthly bill.
