Safety Programs

Southwest Electric conducts safety programs for all school-aged children.  Our employees demonstrate safety around electricity:

  • electricity and water do not mix
  • stay away from power lines
  • get help from an adult around appliances
  • play sports away from power lines
  • stay away from substations
  • call Southwest Electric if an object gets stuck on power lines

Southwest Electric employees also show some of the safety and climbing equipment.  Students see the hooks and super-squeeze the linemen use to climb poles, the gloves and hardhats they wear and the tools they use to fix the lines.

If your school or organization is interested in a Southwest Electric safety program, please contact Mitchell Smith at 601-437-1357 or msmith@swepa.coop.
