We are proud to have four students from Copiah-Lincoln Community College doing internships with us this summer during June and July. This is the second year we have offered summer internships. We began this special partnership with Copiah-Lincoln Community College in 2019. Unfortunately, COVID-19 prevent us from providing the opportunity in 2020.
Each student will spend two weeks in four modules: Construction Crews, Meters and Substations, Servicemen and Staking Technicians. By the time they finish the eight-week program, they will understand the process of providing electricity to our Members from designing the new service, framing the poles, connecting the lines and setting the meter. They will also learn the power restoration process from the substation to the three-phase lines, the single-phase lines, the taps and the meter.
The students were chosen by their instructors and are in between the first and second years of their majors. This is one of the ways that we support our local community college and provide valuable work experience to their students.
